德州扑克所谓的“短牌”都是从标准德州扑克衍生出来的玩法，具体有三种大同小异的类型，其中一种参考：6+大牌德州扑克基本知识
三种短牌相同的地方是：
都在原来标准德州扑克的基础上，去掉“2-5”这16张牌，只游戏“6-A”这9*4=36张牌；在牌型构成上，除了A6789为最小的顺子，其他与标准德州扑克相同。
不同的地方是牌型大小比较略有不同，由此细分为三种具体玩法：
A）“6+”玩法：
牌型大小为：皇家同花顺>同花顺>四条>同花>葫芦>三条>顺子>两对>一对>高牌；
和标准德州扑克牌型大小不同的部分为同花>葫芦>三条>顺子；
B）原始牌型大小玩法：
皇家同花顺>同花顺>四条>葫芦>同花>顺子>三条>两对>一对>高牌；
C）仅调整同花大小玩法：
牌型大小为：皇家同花顺>同花顺>四条>同花>葫芦>顺子>三条>两对>一对>高牌；
和标准德州扑克牌型大小不同的部分为同花>葫芦；
